Hospitalization expenses
A list of current tariffs is displayed in the reception area.

Medical Care Costs

Hospital stay costs :

If you benefit from Social Security Insurance, it will cover 80% of the cost of your stay in hospital. The remaining 20% will be payable by yourself or your Mutual Benefit Insurance. This will apply for the first 30 days of hospitalization.
In case of long term illness, hospitalization of more than 30 days or operations rated above K50 grade, your Social Security Insurance will cover 100% of the expenses.
If you are not covered by Social Security, the cost of hospitalization will be entirely at your expense.
Foreigners who are not covered by French Social Security must provide the relevant form.

Please note: If you do not live in the Gironde department, your local Social Security centre may impose a limit to the amount of expenses it will reimburse.  This limit will be equal to the tariffs applied by the local hospital nearest your home.  In that case, even if you are eligible for a 100% cover rate, the difference will remain yours to pay.

Daily base rate :
Daily base rate (lump sum equal to the cost of one day in a private room)
In compliance with the current regulations, you will have to pay for the sum if your private mutual benefit insurance scheme doesn’t cover it .Categories of patients exonerated from paying it are as follows:
-Work accidents victims or patients suffering from work-related illnesses.
-Women covered by maternity insurance.
-Patients benefiting from Military Invalidity Pensions (art.115) and war victims.

Fees Supplements
Some Consultants may have chosen to practice within the free fee sector.
In that case, they are allowed to charge fees exceeding the Social Security base rate.
The difference will be charged to you. Your Consultant will give you full information on tariffs.

Transport :
You may be eligible for free ambulance transport should your medical condition justify it and under certain conditions.

Hospital Discharge :
The day and time of discharge are decided by your doctor;
An early unauthorized leave will be at the patient’s own risk and he/she will have to sign a leaving form.
You must let the nursing staff know when you are leaving your room.
You must then go to the administration department in order to complete the details on your file, obtain the discharge form needed for your employer and your Private Mutual Benefit Insurance.
You will also have to settle the bill for fees supplements, daily base rate lump sum, private room and “notoriete” fee indicated by your Consultant.
These extra costs will be met accordingly by the various Private Mutual Benefit Insurance Companies and in accordance with the type of contract subscribed
Expenses such as television, telephone, visitors’ accommodation, drinks etc will also have to be paid at the same time.
If ambulance transport has been prescribed and authorized, your ward’s nurse will get in touch with the ambulance company of your choice.

Please note:  if you are a minor, you can only be discharged in the presence of a parent or legal custodian.
